Monty Don, a huge fan of traditional crafts, presents Mastercrafts, which celebrates six of the traditional crafts that built our nation and its heritage, ranging from thatching to stonemasonry.
Under Monty's watchful eye six groups of enthusiastic amateurs, who are passionate about learning one of these ancient trades, are put through their paces by some of the country's leading practitioners in green woodcraft, blacksmithing, thatching, stonemasonry, weaving and stained glass. While Monty explores the importance of these crafts in history, the trainees are put through an intensive six weeks learning all the basic skills, culminating in a final piece of work which is judged by experts.
